This week saw my unexpected debut at the 300th Three Choirs Festival in Hereford Cathedral singing Beethoven's epic Missa Solemnis with the Philharmonia alongside soprano Eleanor Dennis, Mezzo Jennifer Johnston, tenor Mark le Brocq and conducted by Adrian Partington. I was asked at 6 hours notice while I was still in London!
I'm delighted to announce that I was awarded the top prize at the 24e Concours Lyrique in Clermont Ferrand. Part of the prize involves performances of the role of Polyphemus in a tour of Handel's Acis and Galatea in a few French opera houses. Watch this space for more details.
Another exciting jump in to report. Chris Purves has had to pull out of a performance of Handel's Giulio Cesare at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and I have been asked to take his place. I'll be singing the role of Achilla on April 12th. Sadly this means that I can't perform my lunchtime recital for the London Handel Festival, but my wife, Katherine Crompton, has been asked to take my place. Details of Giulio Cesare can be found here, and of Katy's recital here.
I've been asked at short notice to sing the solos for the annual performance of Handel's Messiah at St. Paul's Cathedral in front of an audience of 2500 people. The concert will take place on December 3rd at 6:30pm. If you'd like tickets please click here.
I'm delighted that my first operatic CD is shortly available to buy from Amazon. A Live recording of Faramondo from the premiere at the Göttingen Handel Festival. Click here to find out more.
Handel's Faramondo has opened at the Gottingen International Handel Festival to great critical acclaim - take a look at the reviews page for a selection of reviews of the show - and I've made it onto the front page of the newspaper! There was a live broadcast made of the opening night which you can listen to here
We're into the final week of rehearsals for Handel's Faramondo at the Internationale Händel-Festspiele Göttingen. Opening night is Saturday 31st May and more details can be found here.
