Edward Grint - Bass Baritone

Edward Grint is currently studying in the International Opera School at The Royal College of Music generously supported by the HR Taylor Trust Award for Postgraduate Study and the Hans & Mary Romney Award. He recently graduated from King's College, Cambridge as a choral scholar. First taught by Sarah Harpham, he now continues to learn with Peter Savidge.

On stage he has performed the roles of Bass Priest/Armed Man (Die Zauberflöte), Tirenio (Il Pastor Fido), Hobson (Peter Grimes), Micha (The Bartered Bride), Mother (Die Sieben Tödsunden ) as well as Guglielmo, Sid and Don Giovanni for RCM Opera Scenes. He has also performed as Bill Sykes in Oliver, and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.

Since leaving Cambridge, he has performed regular work with many leading ensembles including the BBC Singers, The Tallis Scholars, The Cardinall's Musick, and Tenebrae. Highlights have included tours to Mexico, Spain and Estonia, working on the soundtracks of Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Golden Compass.

As a soloist, Edward has worked with many leading ensembles, both around the UK and abroad. In recent months, he has performed Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in Ely Cathedral with Neil Jenkins, Bach's St. John Passion (London Mozart Players), Handel's Messiah (City of London Sinfonia), as well as recording Faure's Requiem (BBC Concert Orchestra) for a BBC Radio 2 broadcast. He has recently reached the final of the Lies Askonas Competition and the RCM Schumann Competition. In recital he has performed Finzi's Earth and Air and Rain alongside Schumann's op. 24 Liederkreis in Croydon's Fairfield Halls. Recordings include Charles Wood's St. Mark's Passion, with the choir of Jesus College, Cambridge.

Alongside his consort and solo career, Edward still finds time to be employed as a Vicar Choral at St. Paul's Cathedral, singing for the daily church services, as well as on special occasions such as the Queen's 80th Birthday Celebration.

Future plans include solo concerts in London and St. Alban's, performing the role of John Styx in the RCM production of Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld, and a solo recital of Finzi songs in Italy
